What is Trailblazers?

Trailblazers is an organisation developed for the enthusiastic rider and sponsored by SEIB, Spillers and Horse magazine.  It is a competition structure suitable for the true amateur/recreational rider with four levels of show jumping competitions over the heights of 75cm, 85cm, 95cm and 1.05m *NEW FOR 2010* 65cm show jumping (Juniors only), three levels of dressage comprising Preliminary, Novice and Elementary and since 2008 Showing (see the Trailblazers website for details of all classes).  These competitions are split into Junior and Senior sections and are run over two rounds culminating in a Final held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

Approved Trailblazers Centres - who promote the Trailblazers concept - run the first two rounds of competition.

There is one Second Round competition per participating venue and these run from March to May.  In Show Jumping there will be four to qualify at each level and for Dressage 5 to qualify at each level (subject to change and number of entries), for Showing please see the Trailblazers website.  The Grand Finals are held at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire (formerly The Royal Show Ground) in late July (dates for 2010 to be confirmed).

Junior classes classes are for riders 16 years and under and not to have attained their 17th birthday by the first day of the Championships.

Qualification for Dressage Second Rounds is based on class percentage - with all tests at 58% and over gaining qualification at that level.  Qualification for Show Jumping Second Rounds consists of jumping a double clear in a height class and entitles that rider and horse/pony to compete in any number of qualifying Second Rounds in that height.

In the event of a rider and horse/pony combination ceasing the qualification also ceases.

Once a competition has qualified they will be issued with a congratulatory letter informing them that they have qualified from the Centre competed at.  The competitor then has the choice to accept the qualification for the Second Rounds. He/she should then return the congratulory letter (within 14 days) to the centre where they qualified at together with a cheque for £12 made payable to the appropriate Centre together with TWO stamped addressed envelopes.  One will be used to forward the competitor a Qualification Card, the other will be used to forward details of that Centre's Second Rounds.
